Dealer nameplates at the Ohio Summer Classic Car Auction

| среда, 9 сентября 2009 г.

pedal car star

As I mentioned yesterday, I attended the first-ever Ohio Summer Classic Car Auction at the John S. Knight Center in Akron the weekend before last, where the lad above drove off in a little bright yellow car.

J.H. Apperson Olds

Got plenty of coverage for upcoming issues of all four magazines, but I also came across several dealer nameplates, which we’re all so fascinated with around here. So let’s start with the J.H. Epperson nameplate spotted on the back of a 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible. Epperson, of Cleveland, Tennessee, seems not to exist anymore – at least not as an Oldsmobile dealer. There is a Gray Epperson Auto in Cleveland that deals in Mazdas and Hyundais, however.

Badger Oldsmobile

Next up, another Oldsmobile dealer, Badger Olds of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, whose nameplate was spotted on the back of a 1963 Olds 98 Holiday Sport sedan. Again, Badger seems no longer.

Tasca Ford

Finally, well, y’all oughta know this one. Spotted on the back of a ‘62 Galaxie two-door sedan.

From the Hemmings Nation Flickr pool – shorty Cad, more night photography and another AMC dealership

| четверг, 6 августа 2009 г.

shorty (and longy) Cadillac

We’re constantly amazed at what shows up in the Hemmings Nation Flickr pool, and in the last few weeks, Hemmings Nation members have dropped some mightily noteworthy pics into the pool. We’ll start with papfiesta’s “backseat driver,” a mid-1960s Cadillac with a shortened passenger area, but a lengthened hood. Can we correctly call this a shorty?

Summit Garage nighttime photo

Troy Paiva continues to show off his nighttime junkyard photography in the pool, but one of his latest shots, of the Summit Garage in Altamont, California, intrigued me. As Troy noted, the garage is still there, and from the looks of it on Google Maps, still operating.

Ford B-100

Ever seen a ‘78 Ford B-100? Unless you’ve traveled extensively in Mexico, probably not. Hugo90 continues to surprise us with foreign variations on vehicles we never knew existed.

Morrice and Heyse

Finally, trekie83 shot a series of photos of the old Morrice and Heyse Motors AMC dealership in Barrington, Illinois, full of classic cars, mostly Nashes and AMCs. Yes, it’s on the 1983 AMC dealership list. Looks like we oughta stop by there sometime if we’re ever out that way.
